The average day offers endless things to scroll, watch and react to. It is easy to realise at midnight that you have given hours to everything except what matters most.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness is not a luxury for the spiritually advanced. It is how we remember who is in charge when the noise is loud.
Begin with the first and last ten minutes of your day. Leave your phone across the room at night and, in the morning, give your first moments to prayer or a short passage of Scripture before you open any app.
Next, set simple boundaries. Turn off notifications you do not need. Choose one or two times a day to check social media instead of dozens. Replace some scrolling with a walk, a call or a good book.
None of this is about guilt. It is about deciding on purpose where your attention goes, so that your life reflects what you say you value.
Try this week: keep your phone out of your bedroom for seven nights and spend the first ten minutes of each morning with God.
